Moving on Up in Nelson

The big news of course is my impending selling trip to the UK – if you’re wanting a good price for your property this adds an extra opportunity to achieve that in a way that no other company can offer. In the 10 years I’ve been doing this, the only other agent in New Zealand that I’ve seen pull this off successfully has been a Bayleys agent in New Plymouth.

Here’s a link to a very interesting article by Tony Alexander, the BNZ’s chief economist, about whether we are in a bubble market or not. This is an excellent, fact-filled 5 minute read. A very important read if you’re contemplating buying.

Our new listing today is a brilliantly located 2 bedroom unit in Grove Street, in Nelson’s Wood. Just across the river from the Information Centre and the well-renowned River Kitchen Café, this is an awesome entry-level and investment property that we expect will be popular. Parts of the interior are a little dated, which allows a new owner to put their own special stamp on the home of their dreams.

Have a great weekend.

Before reading about our new listings below, if you are in the UK, I will be making my annual trip to work at UK immigration expos in March.

As well as talking about homes, I will be representing Migrate2Nelson which is a service designed to help make your move to our sunny shores as stress-free as possible.

Migrate2Nelson offers Immigration assistance, job search, rental properties, banking, insurance, UK pension transfer assistance, banking, legal and accountancy to name a few.

Conventionally I work at immigration expos in the UK, plus I meet with Ex-pat Kiwis and also those wishing to move to NZ.

If you are overseas reading this, and wish to catch up to discuss any of the services that Migrate2Nelson offers, please contact me as soon as possible. My diary fills up pretty quickly. You can find out more about their services in the link to the right of this page.

Last week I gave my opinion about Nelson house prices. Not long after that, there was an article in the paper about the same issue.  It’s short and to the point and worth a read.  You’ll find it by following this link: https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/100675642/value-growth-proves-commentators-wrong-reinz

If you’re in Nelson – have a great week and keep the sunblock handy.

Just in case you were thinking the market is slow because you’ve been spending too much time reading the newspaper and watching TV, both anecdotally and statistically we are seeing the continuation of a firm market in Nelson city. Since last week we have sold 18 Scotland Street, Nelson, in the mid $700,000s, to the best of […]

Happy New Year to you and yours. While you’re sipping the occasional lager or wine on the beach (or if you’re keeping yourselves warm in the top half of the world), spare a thought for our team who’ve been beavering away right through the holiday period. My colleagues now have 17 Arrow Street, 10A Calamaras […]

Moving on Up in Nelson

This is the last newsletter for the year, and so we take this time to thank you for your business, either as a buyer or seller – or in some cases both, and your referrals. Year in – year out the support of our clients is heart-warming and essential to our continued success in this business.

Yesterday we had two properties up for auction – 18 Scotland Street, Nelson and 62 Manuka Street, Nelson.

Scotland Street attracted spirited bidding and we passed it in below reserve at $685,000. It is now under conditional contract well into the $700,000s.

Although we had buyers in the room for Manuka Street it didn’t sell under the hammer and it too was passed in – at $790,000.

For both these properties we have our final open homes of the year this weekend.

Today we have the conclusion to the Deadline sales for 4 Rosa Cristina Way and 3 City Heights, Nelson.

We will be presenting several offers on Rosa Cristina Way this afternoon and are dealing with buyers who are indicating interest in City Heights.

So – this has been a busy month as we watch buyers aspiring to get a deal in place on their next home so that they can move into Christmas without having to do any more house hunting.

However, if you haven’t yet secured anything, and will be on the lookout over the holiday season, both Jacqui and I are working, (apart from the stat holidays – yes, it needs to be said, because just about every year someone rings to see a house on Xmas day), and available to find you the home of your dreams.

Have a safe and relaxing Christmas everyone – see you in the new year.
